AFR 25/021/2007 - 10 September 2007

The eight men named above were released unconditionally, without charge, in the evening of 7 September. According to local sources, they said they had not been ill-treated in custody.

Police had arrested them on 23 August and alleged they had links with the armed opposition Oromo Liberation Front (OLF).

Amnesty International believes this UA appeal played an important role in their release.

No further action is requested from the UA network. Many thanks to all who sent appeals.
