Possible "disappearance"/fear of torture
PAKISTAN : Samiullah Baloch (m), aged 24
15 December 2006
Samiullah Baloch was released on 10 December. Sources close to him have reported that he was abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies, he was tortured in the early stages of his unlawful detention and he was kept in solitary confinement.
His brother Obaidullah Ali Baloch had been released in July of this year. The two men’s brother, Senator Sanaullah Baloch, has written to thank Amnesty International, saying :
"I am personally indebted to ... Amnesty International for the release of Samiullah Baloch... [My family and I are] especially... grateful for your concern and efforts for the release of my brother. Your efforts and sympathies in this difficult and crucial hour gave us courage and hope, and led to the safe release of Samiullah Baloch."
Many thanks to all who sent appeals. No further action is requested from the UA network.
Avant tout : Joyeux Noël !
